This is an accident blackspot.
I have no idea of circumstances, but there have been several fatalities there in the 10 years I have lived in Woodford Green.
This is certainly the 4th, to my knowledge the others were pedestrians but for whatever reasons this is obviously a dangerous stretch of road.

Saddened to read this. Terrible news again - and a stretch of road I'm sure many of us know from weekend rides.

Sad news, my thoughts with all his friends and family.

I like many on here use this route almost daily for my training rides up to Epping, There always seems to be a obscene amount of vehicles coming out of and turning down that road. I have had a few close calls myself

Grieving family outraged: motorist who killed cyclist Kevin Lane walks free from court with 12-month community order, 3yr ban & £80 fine

So the Judge thinks:
"This is a tragedy for both sides of the court.
Why a tragedy for 'both' sides? What "tragedy" is it to have to do community service and pay £80? Or is the driving ban a tragedy for Margorie?

I suppose the tragedy is that Mrs Trappenen is depressed. A three year driving ban is an insult, though I suspect she won't drive again.
IMO the real tragedy is that an elderly driver did not give up driving until it was too late. Confusing foot pedals is VERY common with older drivers.
Only just seen this. What terrible news. It sounds from some of the above as though it was an experienced rider.
