Cheers. I'm a 25c kinda guy, so would like to run them, if I could.
Would anyone like to offer a comparison of the ride qualities between C40 and Master?

master arguably one of stiffest steel roadbikes, i have mk 1 and mk 2,responsive ride, can tuck into a comfortable position over longer distances, mk2 (post 96) has bigger tubes and feels stiffer, bike can seem it's on auto pilot providing you have a strong enough engine, documented evidence of pro wins in this frames history, as with later c40, no really experience of early c40, only b stay c40, which frame wise is smaller than master in my size, very good ride, responsive and stiff, one of wiggo's all time favs also

A 1991 Master in Ceramiche Ariostea teamcolours.
A 1998 Master Extra Light "Freuler"-geometry (in teamcolours of a smaller Belgian professional team) – currently being rechromed
A 1998 Master Extra Light, built up with some "modern" stuff.:

It's a 56 cm. Originally it came with a steel precisa fork and a mixture of parts. I sold my Cannondale CAAD 10 and as I ride cyclosportive "races" (last year the GF Giordana, this year it will be the Fausto Coppi), I putted lighter stuff on it (including the Flash carbon fork).
Here's the original setup with steel Precisa fork:

Looks nice with the steel fork , did you weigh the flash to see the difference ? I find the steel fork comfiest & modern groupsets work well on the master

Not yet. It's the one withe the aluminium steerer so according to what I've found on te internet, it should be about 200 g lighter. I will weigh them as soon I have better scales.

Nice bikes, JusCos
How did you get the parts so shiny? Or were the unused?
-
• #616
Thank you. Mostly the parts were used but every bottle of T-Cut I used was definitely new. Now I kinda wished they weren't so shiny so I'd ride them more.

Here is my Colnago Master Olympic circa 1993.
It has a dropped top tube otherwise known as 'Freuler' geometry which was termed after Urs Freuler a Swiss cyclist on the Atala team during the 1980s who had his frames constructed in this way. It is a true 'Freuler' because both the seat and head tubes extend upwards past the normal junction with the top tube.
The seat tube is 59 c-c and the head tube is 19cm which is consistent with my usual 61 x 59 x 19 however the junction between seat and top tube is 58 c-c.
The thinking behind this approach is to give frames over about 60cm improved stiffness in the main triangle.
