High viz or cool?

Has anyone got a Hump Signal or tried one on / seen one in the flesh?

If so any opinions?

I've been contemplating going High Viz and want something waterproof with a hood, this seems to tick the boxes and is reasonably priced

Probably fine for short hops but looks proper boil in the bad for longer stints.

What a turd of an article. Boardman's point was that we shouldn't have to dress up like fucking aliens to ride a bike, not that we should ride in the dark without lights and reflective clothing.

Lights, bright clothing and helmets are all sensible ideas.

My 2 pence on the Hi-Viz vs cool: I bought some reflective sticky tape off ebay for 99p. I've cut out, shaped and rounded corners with scissors so it doesn't look like tape and stuck them very subtly over my commuter bike and cycle gear. For example little subtle strips on my seat stays, forks, back pack and bits on the back of my shoes. They don't look too bad. I'm thinking that as I'm peddling I will be easily distinguishable as a cyclist from the behind. Combined with quality lights obviously.

What do helmets have to do with making cyclists more visible on the road?

Lights? No! Really? Hadn't thought of that, I'll definitely look into it!

If hi-viz is all that stands between you and Accident & Emergency, I suggest you're doing something wrong.

I'm totally rushing out to buy hi-viz. It will help the paramedics locate all my body parts when they scrape me off the road after the speeding cunt in the Jag, talking on his mobile, drives straight over me.

I had to put hi-viz on my TT bike. Because Americans.

Luckily the missus is skillful and she blended it with the existing white stripes so you can hardly notice it in the daylight. The black wheels though were a bit trickier.

They'll take cyclists seriously when we start swooping in like ninjas during the night and stealing their children. Actually, they probably couldn't give a shit, make that stealing their child porn collections.
