  • My bike, 28mm tyres. 2001 steamroller, it was repainted by the previous owner. Great bike, due to shorter fork it's a bit more aggressive than the new version.

  • Helloooo! If any of you 'roller fans feel the need to sell one, I'm after a 53cm frame and fork in any colour or condition! Well, not ANY condition...just usable.
    Cheers!

  • im selling a fully built steamroller if anyone is on the lookout. It's a 59cm in mechs teeth green. A few of the decals are missing/damaged but the paint is in good nick. Currently has mavic open pro rims (ceramic rear) with campag front hub and system x rear hub. Thomson stem and seat post, ritchey bars and lizard skins DSP tape. Front brake fitted atm.
Looking for 4-500. Pm me if you're interested.

  • The thread's gone quiet - so here's my workaday 'roller complete with ancient carradice saddlebag and equally ancient bag support. This more or less gets used every day sometimes for rides around the fifty mile mark. Lovely 32mm tyres keeps the ride well cushioned and comfortable. I love my 'roller.

  • is that canal path along hackney marsh?

  • yep~ bit further up past tottenham actually I think. Doesn't look it but it was as muddy as Aches' when I finished.

  • i love that place, i walk and cycle round there for a bit of quiet on weekdays. some of the gravel is gone there so you get mud. you bike looks in its element.

  • Looking to buy a used Cross-Check in 58cm, anyone got one for sale or know anyone? Must be able to post within EU.

    Thanks!

  • Are you after full bike or just frameset? I've a 58 frameset in the dark blue you can buy

  • my steamroller this morning

  • Looks smart

  • cheers, yeah its going pretty nicely atm.

still feels way too long, need to get a slightly shorter stem and move my saddle back. might pop some 32c tyres on too.

  • Don't suppose there are any 56 framesets for sale anywhere??

  • Just completed mine. Loving it.

  • 64km in kent/surrey yesterday, hardest ride ever! 48/18 was way too optimistic for some of those hills.

  • Just bought my first Roller (which is also my first build) so any advice would be good on crank arm length etc... looks like 165mm is the right way to go? Gonna go for a murdered out black look, a bit of Thomson, risers etc... pics to follow!

  • Good stuff, welcome to the club. I've got 172.5 on mine, i only get toe overlap with mudguards. the frame is designed for big tyres and the geo is slack so sure even 175 would be fine. pics please!

  • The 'roller can be a bit of a hefty lad - therefore you might want to think about slightly longer cranks than 165s if you want to get up any inclines that is.
I use 170s on mine still very spinny. I'm 6feet and 14stone so I need that extra leverage.

  • Thanks @ianjchip and @JT, sound advice! Here's the original ad... first purchase is a Thomson x4 stem.

  • Selling my Steamroller :(

Finally came to the conclusion with advise from friends and after being properly measured.
I'm all legs apparently and not very bendy and since Steamrollers are equal in seat tube and top tube length it was always a bit of stretch even with a stubby stem.

In great condition with a few marks here and there.

    59cm Frame / Original Fork / BB / Headset

    £230
