I clogged up pretty badly at Addington on the Pompino.
@owlz and I were discussing the perfect "no-pit-bike" race bike on the train down on Sunday. I think something with huge clearances, hydraulic disc brakes and sliding or replaceable dropouts would be good, 1x10 for the first third of the season then SS for the rest.

Something like this then;

Need to satisfy my 29er lust.
You know you want to.

Better?
-
• #2857
Arghh my eyes it burns the goggles they do nothing
-
• #2858
I'd probably have to ditch the F1000sl.
This would make me sad.

Arkose? The only thing I'm not 100% on is the mudguard mounts
Well in @J.Dennis

It has eyelets at the rear for sure, and I think the fork does too. As far as I can tell, the singlespeed option doesn't allow for a derailleur to be mounted though.
I'm not sure on the geometry either, looks a bit too upright to for me. I might try one though.

You can only put a rear mech on it. Its got cable guides for hub gears and as well as a hanger, so 1x11 shouldnt be a problem

Been enjoying hacking about on the cross bike past couple of weeks, makes me excited for next season! Does anyone have any recommendations for a chain guide on a 1x10 and a 39~42t narrow wide chain in 130 bcd?
-
• #2864
130 bcd options are limited.
Absolute black do them apparently.
Superstar are going to start doing CX rings but I don't know if they'll do 130bcd.
-
• #2865
Superstar are already doing 110bcd ones : http://www.superstarcomponents.com/en/cyclocross-io-chainring-narrow-wide-style.htm
-
• #2866
yeah they've been talking about it for ages. Wonder when that page went live - I checked just a few days ago :) options appear to be anything you like as long as it's 110 38t
-
• #2867
for the chain guide I've recently fitted a gusset lil chap and 200 miles later the chain hasn't falllen off so it seems fine
-
• #2868
Cheers, to be honest I've not had any problems so far but it hasn't been out on any super muddy courses. Hopefully superstar bring out a 130 one before next season then!

I'd assume the Arkose has a chainstay bridge (with good reason, but no good for proper mud) and that downtube cable routing would collect mud too.
I'd be tempted to go custom should myself and the Ritchey part ways and specify clearance for narrow 29er tyres and Paragon sliding dropouts - with the dropouts all the way towards the BB I reckon you could then have a standard racey short chainstay with proper 33c cross tyres, and all the way out should give the clearance for the big tyres for riding in the summer.

Reckon Talbot would knock that up in no time. Don't know about the cost though.
-
• #2871
Like this, but with the dropouts you describe.

Catchy name... ;-)
-
• #2872
Not sure about the name.
Matt's designing up a mk. 3 version at the mo but for weight reasons we opted to forgo the sliders.

Chinese carbon....
-
• #2874
Hmmm.
You can't see it in the flesh beforehand and have to rely on a description from someone who's first language is not English to describe what you want to know. There's a larger element of risk there I think.

I just wanted to be the edscoble of this thread.
Recommend a genesis day one for your list Andy. It's a great bike. Looking forward to racing mine next season.
