  • I wish I knew! :)

When I've got my track gear and wheels on my back I take Old Ford Road around Viccy park as the gates are usually closed when I'm going there and then onto Cadogan Terrace before taking the footbridge over East Cross. It lands you on the edge of Hackney Wick at Rothbury Road and then it's a simple chortle over White Post Lane to the Olympic Park.

Not easy, but nothing is :)

  • If you turn right rather than left at the mini roundabout which takes you onto cadogan terrace, then do a sharp left after the tunnel, it cuts out the footbridge, which I always find a bit fiddly. I've also just noticed on the map that there's a bridge at the end of old ford road, so I'm going to see what that's like tonight.
I also prefer going north through hackney wick onto eastway, then using the cycle paths and a currently-closed-with-no-name road that runs between the velopark road track and the A12 to enter the velopark site from the north west.
Quite convoluted to explain but very quick, quiet and traffic-free.

  • Yeah, but I find that means you end up going along the canal path, which isn't great when I'm on my crabon track bike with my racing wheels strapped to my back.

i could be wrong though. :)

When I'm commuting to and from home (which also takes me past the velodrome) I go along Cassland Road and Eastway which is fine, but they drive like cunts down there...

Can you let me know how you find Old Ford foot bridge? Looks ok in streetview ..

I dont have much time to play with after work and before the race starts on Thursday.

@roboto I dont think there are any canal paths involved with the 2nd option .. I could be wrong. I want to avoid them like ebola.
