Finisterre merino is from Australia. The Bowmont wool is from Devon and is as near to merino as is possible in the UK. However, it doesn't quite have the microns to spin it fine enough to make a lightweight base-layer which is why it's currently only used for Jumpers and knitted hats.

BTW it is threaded so is super easy to put on. None of that fiddly trying to keep one side of the chain ring bolt still nonsense.
