Quick update: It turns out I've been using some really fine grit anyway so I got some 600 grit to try and speed up the process.
Also was thinking on getting this mavic open pro CD (to match the front one) and have sent cycle basket an email but they haven't responded yet. Does anyone have any experiences with them? Does it usually take 3 days for them to reply?

I'm pretty sure those new open pros are quite different from the old open pro you have mounted on the front 650c... did you try to find some of similar generation online?
-

Briefly but I found it relatively hard finding a anadosied grey one with the braking surphace untouched.
I know the shape and stickers are different but the stickers I can probably sort out.
I'm not in a rush to get one but just just wanted really to see how low they'd go with the price and have a reliable option.
I might see if the mighty Hilary of stone would sell some of his separately. -

He's got these two sets:
But ho do I know which shade/finish it is (he lives in wales). They sometimes pop up here but here usually gone within the hour.

Though are they really that dissimilar shape-wise:
My 650c rim (mavic open 4 CD):I belive this to be the cross section:
The intended rim (mavic open pro CD):
Its slightly rounder and shallower but the general shape is similar and the colour is as well. -

If you're interested, I've got an Open Pro CD on a Novatech hub, 120mm which shouldn't be a problem to respace and has never been used, which might solve your problem fairly simply. Bearing in mind it's got a fixed cog and a freewheel on it, i'd be looking for about £75 for it....PM if interested!

PMd
I'm really after a mavic open 4 cd. Some was up for sale today but I only managed to get third dibs. They're pretty hard to find. -

Mocks finished so will be continuing with the cranks. They're really starting to become a right pain in the arse now, especially the fluting.
Wheel-wise I think I will get a Mavic Open pro CD replace the sticker with one more closely resembling that of a Mavic Open 4 CD, that I want to get printed with some Concor logo stickers- BTW does anyone know any places that do weatherproof stickers reasonably cheaply?
I'll settle for any nice hub, not necessarily Campagnolo.
Once thats done I will be able to get the BB and crankset installed. -

diginate.com are good cheap an pretty quick turnaround. Got these printed there -

Thanks. Don't know when I'll get around to doing it but hopefully soon.
Forgot to mention:
I'll be recovering the saddle probably after its rideable with white perforated vinyl. -

Also now I'm.thinking about getting the wheelset sorted tyres are now a concern.
On my front wheel I already have a Michelin hi lite supercomputer h.d..Are these rare because I'm having a relatively hard time finding any?
And does anyone have any experience with them? -

You have inspired me to build a Lo Pro this year.
I have never really been a big fan, but recently they have been growing on me alot!
Awesome job!

Great.
I've been having some trouble trying to insert my seatpost.
I've heard that some old frames aren't reamed (?) that far down the tube and so far have been assuming that to be the reason. Is it? -
• #140
I'm gonna have to cut the seatpost aren't I. That's gonna be a risky op.

Hi, I have a SPNK fixxer for Shimano hubs you are more than welcome to borrow it until you get your rear wheel sorted out, if your desperate to ride

Thanks for the offer but then I'd still have the cranks to polish (the drive side one is a massive pain in the arse) and then install the cranks, which knowing me would tale a long time.
Thanks for the offer though.

Cool no worries I was considering buying the frame you bought, kind of regretted not getting it so just purchased one. Will post some pics when it arrives its an Aquilla lo pro SL/SLX tubing should be good.

Don't worry, its the most interesting bit of news the thread has had in weeks.
Anywho, to do list:
- Just found out that the Micheline hilite super comp HD are discontinued. Does anyone know of any nice looking gumawall tires available in 650c and 700c? (Vintage look preferred)
- Need to cut seatpost.
- Need to get stickers for saddle and rim sorted.
- Get wheel done. (specs for wheel above)
- Sand and polish cranks.
- Get some white toe straps
But due to family matters and the biggest football match ever, Cambridge vs Manchester united (at Cambridge) I don't know when I'll be able to do them.

So does anyone know of any good slick gumwall tires available in both 650c and 700c. Preferably look abit like the micheline hilite super comps ↓

I have 2 michelin supercomps in 650c but I guess you are after a 650c/700c pair?
I use the vittoria juniores a lot but they're tubular.
OK so finished the initial samding of the crank arm. Still need to sand with higher grits but so far its looking pretty neat - though you can't really tell in the images.
