There's lots of 50s in the year, so you can and SHOULD blow up racing one or more of them.

That was on the basis of having to finish at least one for the club vets BAR, so he played safe and got a time on the board and then tried to improve it. If you're only after a PB and nothing else is contingent on your 50 time, you can attack the first one and use what you learned to do better in the second one.
