The Busch & Müller Secula Plus comes in a couple of versions, including one that mounts directly on your fenders or with a bracket for your seatstays.
There's a bunch of info a few paragraphs down here http://www.peterwhitecycles.com/taillights.asp and the fender version is further down the page.

Seat stay mount. Perfect. Thanks for that.

Well, that's the tail light sorted. What about the front? Another Cyo? Fairly happy with that one so far.
-

Cyo defintely, unless you want to get the Edelux II for audax while keeping the Cyo for the fixed.

My new commute involves 8 miles of towpath which is unlit for most of the way. My once a week USB recharge has become every day due to the heavy use of main beam which isn't really up to the job (moon xpower 300) so I'm going dyno hub.
I'm presuming SON28 is the option of choice and the B&M Secula plus with seat stay mount given I have no rack and a blade style mudguard.
What is the best option up front?
Edelux 2
Cyo
LuxosI'm pretty sure I will not want to charge stuff on the move.
Criteria are:
Better illumination than my current 300 lumen light.
Non dazzling oncoming riders (it's a towpath, there's water nearby)
Aesthetically pleasing to look at.What's the consensus on best solution? Should I be considering two lights or does the power drop mean two is not better than one?

Budget - Cyo
Ulimate - Edelux II.Both those light are very bright and don't dazzle thus allowing you to point the beam much higher to see further.

What about twin edelux II?
Would it work or is it just not worth it?
-
• #84
No, one is plenty enough, two is way overkill.
I had the old Edelux and regularly go on towpath, it's bright enough to go fast and avoid potholes.

Hey, i'm using a Supernova E3 PRO TRIPLE, one of the best i could ride.
But i still love my old CYO Premium B&M... -

Shimano 3N80 or 3N72. Save weight spend more or just settle for the latter? Will be mated to a B&M Cyo T Senso Plus..which to be honest, feels a little excessive for daily use from the images I've seen...

I'm considering getting a 2nd Cyo for my other bike. Would you say that the Edelux is worth the extra spend, as it's quite a bit extra?

The other question which I've been pondering a lot today is SP or SON28? All the reviews I've read say that the SON is totally worth the money but it is quite a lot more.

I'd put the Edelux on the audax bike as they're pretty reliable and something I can trust during an all-night audax ride.
As for the SP and SON28, the latter is definitely reliable, the SP is too early to tell, but first impression is positive, think it's safe to go for the SP.

I've put over 6,000 miles on an SP dynamo, hasn't missed a beat.

The 'stand light' in my cyo has gone. Is there anything cheap and weatherproof I can wire in-series between the light and the hub to act as the capacitor?

I've ordered a SON 28 for my other bike. Hopefully will be a fit and forget.

I use lupine lights on the road at the mo, have an old Wilma 5 with 900 lumens and a Tesla 5 with 700 (from days when I rode at Swinley Forrest a couple of nights a week). Im getting quite tempted by a Schmidt system for my road trainer (SON delux/28 + Edelux 2) however am slightly concerned that I'll be underwhelmed by it. Does anyone have any 1st hand experience of an Edelux 2 vs a modern punchy mtb light? Would I be better with an Exposure Revo?
-

I have to say that my Son / edelux is pretty poor I don't know why people rave about it so much.It lights up a small patch of road with not much light.
It is nothing compared to my old Lupine Wilma or my current Exposure 6 pack. On my other dynamo equipped bike I have a Supernova hub and an E3 triple, which is much more effective.
It is fine for road use (despite what some people will say) so long as you angle it down, so the really bright central spot is about 40 feet in front of you. The bracket allows you to easily pivot the light upwards a bit if you are in the woods, then it is a great off road light too. -

That's what I was afraid of, thanks for the reply.
Question for anyone, it is possible to run an Exposure Revo on a SON hub isn't it?
-
• #97
Edelux 2 or 1? the former spread out a lots more.
-
• #98
Agreed on the Edelux 2 - had an Edelux 1 years ago and it was great, the 2 was very disappointing. Very narrow beam, not especially bright, and the design gives no side visibility.
Changed to a Luxos U and its miles better for less money.

I have a BM cyo t premium on my commuter, and a supernova E3 pro on my roadie...
I'm looking for a new set to fit on my fixed gear, but only a front light without wires or cables for the taillight; Any idea? -

I need to lengthen my Dynamos cable. Figure the easiest way will be to add a connector to make the light removable, rather than disassembling the light and soldering a new wire in. Supernova's gold connectors are a silly price - is it worth spending more than a couple of pounds on spade connectors from Maplins? and is two core audio cable okay to use?
Thinking about getting a 2nd set now that I have it all nicely set up on my fixed commuter. Obviously I can take it all off and fit it to the other bike but it takes almost an hour. May just get a 2nd set of lights to start with as moving the wheel is easy. Thinking about the SP hub dynamo or possibly a Schmidt 2nd hand. Such as here

On my geared bike the main issue is that I don't have a rack and the rear lights I've looked at (mainly B & M) are made for luggage carriers. I have an Ortlieb saddle bag so need to figure out a way of mounting my tail light somehow. I've looked into saddle rail mounts for lights but I already have a saddle rail mount for the bag. Any thoughts?
