    Run- not today
    Swim, 1 km=44 lengths in 18 minutes
    thangyew

  • Running, not coding pls. Strava can do one.

  • Bournemouth Half Marathon entered. 4th Oct
    2013 - 1:48
    2014 - 1:38
    2015 - 1:25 acheivable?

  • Yes. You'll nail it.

  • Can haz script pls.

Will do later on today, need to polish it and roll it in glitter first.

    Strava thread >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

  • Not unachievable, think at current 20min for 5km level it'd be tough to achieve tho*, but you've 9 months of prep ahead. What do the race time predictors thingies say?

    *1.25 is pretty much 4 x 5km at that pace plus another 1km (85/21 =4.04)

  • Running, not coding pls. Strava can do one.

2nd full run into work. 11.6km. New best time (unsurprisingly given it was just my second time).

I do believe I have reached the point where running has become "easier". 4 months in.

Of course, as the saying goes, I can now go faster to redress the balance and make it just as ugly feeling as it was before. Ugh.

  • @rhb

    *1.25 is pretty much 4 x 5km at that pace plus another 1km (85/21 =4.04)

Hmm, Maybe I'll just aim for sub 1:30 instead. I can barely do that pace for 5k, let alone for 21k, plus what with another Pifko Jr. due shortly I don't know if I can commit the training hours.

  • What are your current / most recent race pace times for 5k & 10k?

  • 20:09
    43:00
    (both PB)

  • How recent? The more recent , the more accurate the prediction...

    A 43:00 10k puts you in the vicinity of a 1:35 HM (and a 20:39 5k)

    A 20:09 5k might scale to a 42:00 10k and 1 :32:00 HM

(Based on a pretty standard predictor for race pace)

  • If you want to train for a 1:25:00 HM, you might want to target these paces:
    38:01 10k
    18:30 5k
    And train at these paces
    5:20 mile
    3:20 km
    80 s 400

  • ^ Don't think I've ever ran a 5:20 mile in training. 1/2 mara best 1h23m.

Target 5km and 10km paces look about right.

  • How recent?

    10k - 23rd Nov 14
    5k - 16th Jan 15

Thanks for all the data. THAT'S NUMBERWANG!

  • ^ Don't think I've ever ran a 5:20 mile in training

What sort of pace do you run intervals at (if at all)?

The paces are only ever guides - For me it's as much about having a specific pace that I believe is "best" that the actual pace itself. If you see what I mean.

  • Understood.

I run on effort (hr), and any intervals are very unstructured (more like fartlek), so time for specific distance is not really a consideration. If I was to textbook train for a half or further then it'd be something worth me paying some attention to, although not something that particularly motivates me.

  • It appears that I was talked into doing the Cancer Research 10k at some stage. So I've just got a race number and pack, to go with my broken foot. As I can't do this, it's going free to anyone who wants it:

    http://winterrunseries.co.uk/events/london-winter-run

Next Sun, 1 Feb, with closed roads round central London and a Snow Zone (probably means artificial blizzards, might be fun). Entry worth £40, yours for free (would be nice if you gave a donation to Cancer Research, but that's your call).

    PM if interested.

  • £40 10k? LOL

  • Charidee (although the charity probably gets £0 from that entry fee).

  • In addition to the snow zones, there are polar bear hugs at the end. Best 10k ever?

  • No running for me this morning as the entire place is covered in ice/black ice.

Sun is blazing now so I might get a run-out later.

  • In addition to the snow zones, there are polar bear hugs at the end. Best 10k ever?

You'd have thought, but no PMs yet! Selling points:

    It's for charidee
    Flat course, good for PBs
Central Ldn, easy to get to
    Closed roads
See some of London's famous London's most famous sights
    Good early season sharpener
Human Race organise good events (if exorbitant, but it's been paid for already)
    Chip timing
    Snow zones
    Polar bear hugs!
    It's free

    Any takers?

  • I'm already running it (got a free place).
