grit is like, salt and stones and shit right?
logically speaking for any surface if that is put down, it would:

1. salt - raise the freezing temp of the water causing le black ice
   
2. stones and shit - provide traction on a slippery dippery surface.
   
   

so yeah mayte (/mayor), why aren't paths gritted on what's probably the busiest cycle route outside of London?
we pay road tax too :)
