No, they weren't. It's bullshit newspaper stories, a journalist asks the Chelsea Chairman if they'd considered piped chanting and he said no. "Oh shit", thinks the journo, "that's not a story, better weave it so it becomes one."
Some fucking idiot reads it, reacts, posts on an internet forum, and et voila, a story.
