• @otters Two people on a scooter snapped the steering lock. Then one got on the bike to steer it and the other rode the scooter with one of his feet on the rear pillion peg to push it. At least that's what all the evidence points towards.

They found the bike parked up very neatly outside the entrance to the block of flats opposite the pub at the junction of green lanes and church st. There was no damage to the bike other than the steering lock and top yoke and I'm certain they never started it.

They only found the bike on a routine tour of the area. A car checked it out as it was an unusual bike to see parked in that spot.

Then they took me to the bike and I pushed it home (less than a mile).

I think the thieves had been scoping the bike for a while as my bike cover was removed one morning, which I presumed was the wind but thinking about it it couldn't blow it off once clipped on; then my bike cover was stolen; and looking at my disc lock I can see someone has tried to smash it at some point as there is a tiny crack in the casing. So the one time I leave it unlocked for a few hours it's nabbed.

Anyway, I have it back! Lock your bikes!! If you have a desirable bike and you park it in the same spot all the time it's probably being watched.
