  • Ah ok, cheers. I have a feeling that they may just be called that and not actually be NJS certified. Will have a wee look into it tho. Nice one! T

  • Need these too.

  • The commitment to this build!

Amazing! Cant wait for the finished product! Doubt I would've lasted three years. This is going to be epic!

  • Thanks mate, appreciated. Yeah it's been a bit of a pain at times especially the HS, rims and saddles but it's funny where all these things pop up from. Just hoping the spokes are the correct length now and once the front rim is de-glued they're off to the builders.
The frame still needs faced and seattube reamed but shouldn't be too much of an issue.
Otherwise the only debate I'm having are the grips I should go for.. Soyo or cloth or something else..?
Hoping to have it all done by summer..!

  • holy fucking shit - where did you find the tita-ace rims?!

  • Random guy in Thailand over flickr. Also got the NOS 3R NJS a seat from him. The stuff people have in Thailand is ridiculous, like they hoarded all Campagnolo/Cinelli NJS a over there!

  • Same as shroom, I don't think I could've waited that long to build it..

For the grips, I say Yoshida champs. I've tried soyo before and they're not confortable at all! They're as coarse as sandpaper.

  • the required spoke length is 305mm and 4 cross spoke pattern.

  • ^ superb mate, thanks for the info. Wasn't completely sure but cheers for confirming it. Looks like we're on track :)
^^ cool, will give the Yoshida ones a wee look. Thanks!

  • So strong.

And some seriously epic entrapenuerial procurement!

  • ^thanks buddy, appreciated.
I hope so but when I count up the monies it doesn't particularly seem like it at this stage! I'm sure it'll go up in time unless something really bad happens to the vintage/collector part of the track bike market. I'll be enjoying this for a very long time before I'm ready to move it along I think though ;) T

^^ Ah mate! You can't throw that in the mix ;)! Going on the ridiculously rare there are one or two cinelli NJS saddles in existence and also 3rensho stamped tubs..
^ MG, it's the 36h NJS rims. Do you have any experience with either or? Thanks!

I have two pairs 32 and 36 unridden.

  • ^ you mean tita aces? Very nice if so, you're sitting on a wee gold mine there if you ever were to sell :)

  • I see you have an adjustable handle bar stem, i think that could be the start of your Stayer (motorpace) project.

I have done it a couple of times down at Herne Hill its just so fast and noisy .. !

  • ^dont start. Been looking into monkey bikes lately and it's taking me down a bad road..

So I have a question to the massive. I'm looking to seriously clean up and wax/seal the 3R. Has anyone got any experience with this? As in cleaners, waxes, protectors etc? Would a good car wax do or are there any other products folks would recommend? I have a couple of other frames that could do with the same so happy to get something decent. Cheers!

  • Try @Patfatenough, he did his Nag recently and got clued-up.

  • Thanks mate, will def give him a shout then. Appreciated. T

Had the seatpost reamed over the weekend so will be picking up tomorrow. Frame needs cleaned and polished up, wheels built and then the whole assembly. Getting there... Three years on... ;)

  • ^^^
Oh monkey bikes.. i see one most mornings cycling to work, im fast coming round to thinking that i need one too also i would like a Mk2 Nissan Cube. Im not to sure what i see in them they just make me smile when i see them..

  • ^ haha yeah. Weirdly shaped vehicles but they tick the right boxes!

Seatpost reamed. Now to decide on polishing materials and get her bling!
