In seriousness, are deep V rims a no-no in general or just in white?
-
• #4229
dude, if you like em, get em. But white deep v's in general, by popular consensus, look shit. And one ride in the rain and they'll be splattered with road gunge. They'll look how people look when they stagger out of a rave or a club at 8 in the morning, hair dye and mascara running verywher...

I like the analogy, thanks for convincing me

If you want something that looks good against military green, I'd get some decent rims (silver, or anodised grey if you can), and then some gumwall tyres*. That would look a hell of a lot better than white rims.
It's a pushbike, not a Willys MB Jeep, so it won't look the same.
*Panaracer Pasellas are forum favourites.

Get some Planet X al-30 wheels or something. Don't buy white rims, you will regret it.

how many spokes should I use to build up some A23's if i'm 60kg?
not looking to build a super sturdy winter wheelset, im thinking 20/24?

at 60kg that will be fine.

Cheapest place to get some 105 rear hubs? Doesn't have to be the newest model...

Anyone used the HED Ardennes disc rims? Getting my custom in April so having a think about parts and quite like the look of these, wide, stiff and pretty light apparently. Was tempted by silly expensive carbon jobbys but loving the look of these.
If they're available as rims and not wheelsets anyway.

Was wondering what options there were for off-the-peg hand built wheelsets? Like DCR wheels for example?
I am after something super solid/long lasting for winters, alloy, silver 32 hole rims (are A23's durable?), with 11 speed hubs, £250 ish.
Would love to collect the parts and get them built by someone myself but the ease of just ordering from a website/email is attractive.

Nice, cheers.

They're not durable. 105 to Archetype. Easy.

Much appreciated. Mostly wanted to know other examples of online hand builders I could just order said wheelset through?

If you're going 650b, best to go for actual MTB rims, the work well and already pretty light (Pacenti's cheapest one is less than 400g).

I'm fairly sure I have this exact same rug

33.3333 for riding about town is great. I am convert. Might have to do an audax now.
It's are real pain when they're not round.
Still choosing between a warped rim and a white rim is a tough call :)
