I've got the dynamo version, and it's fantastic. No problems so far after daily commuting use in all weathers, and I've had a surprising number of cyclists ask me what it is, and where they can get one. Just a shame that Philips have stopped making bike lights (although there are still plenty around in stock)
Here's mine, mounted on a bracket on my rear mudguard....

thanks very much, but I've just ordered a new Moon strap from the link above, so no need.
@mdcc_tester Oh I see that now, with hindsight my initial googling was pretty poor

Are you trying to make your cockpit look like a praying mantis?

@Khornight2 I find them comfortable and the tech on my bars just sort of ended up that way. I'm looking at some deda streetisimo bars but don't know what/if my body will like the change in position.

My release lever is broken too. It has a little "bobble" on it that prevents the light coming out without depressing the lever. Mine got put on and removed twice a day for 1.5 winters and a combination of wearing bobble and less springy lever made it come out easily. A crash finished it off.
The light lives on or it would if I could mount it. Local shops couldn't help. I'll email Cateye this weekend and post if I get a reply. Actually I'd prefer to use a Hope/Exposure style clamp both of which are much nicer. I can't see how to modify it appropriately though.

I get comments and questions about mine too. I think it's because the ring blends
into a massive blob of light from a certain distance without being blinding. -

Mine was quite new and just snapped when I was pushing it with my (numb) fingers. It was relatively new, like one or two weeks old.
I managed to take the part that clamps to the rail off by unscrewing the screw with a 1.5mm allen key. Do you know if you can buy those parts? I'll try and upload some pictures of what I mean later. -

I checked the manual on the internet, it's not listed as a spare part. I'll see what Cateye say.
I also removed mine with the appropriate Allen key but couldn't see how to replace it with something better.

What, one for the road and one for blinding and dazzling drivers?
-
• #3913
That's a lot better than just one for dazzling everyone...
I might buy a few and hand them out to people who blind me in Richmond park.

I've an invention that does this already.

Stupid question.
The Smart Lunar R2, comes in AAA or USB rechargeable. However all the descriptions for the USB version say it comes with AAA batteries.
Does this mean I can use AAA's in case I forget to charge or is it just rechargeable AAA's in there which can't be removed?

I have a smart lunar r2 usb on my desk now. I stick a usb cable in it. it recharges.

This, I can imaging many scenario that would work, hell, it's exactly like the car's high beam option, just switch to low beam if there's an oncoming road user.
I might buy a few and hand them out to people who blind me in Richmond park.
Jesus fucking wept, I hate waiting five minutes for them to pass and stop dazzling me.

There must be hundreds of options for the following criteria, any real-world reccommendations greatly appreciated...
Partner is looking to get her mum a set of bike lights. Spend is up to about £40, lights will be used occasionally in relatively quite, small market town-type area. Not too much traffic around where she lives and I doubt she'll be riding much when it's properly dark.

For <£40 to be seen, I'd go with Moon Crescents. Can't find a shop with good discounts both ends but these two yield a pair for £32, leaving plenty in the budget to add a 2-port USB charging plug.

I can confirm that these are pretty dope. £3. Can't go wrong.
Moon website lists the various brackets available as spares, it's sometimes handy to look there and then google the part number as it turns up sellers with poorly worded listings.
