You are right, they are fucking outrageous :)

• #1503
Even better in the flesh!

Seem to do the job too. Yet to test their purported waterproofness, but feet were warm enough considering it was well below zero this morning, certainly in comparison to my hands!
-
• #1505
This morning's ride was seriously bloody cold!
-
• #1506
Agreed. Think we made the right choice still going out though - the misty sun on White Horse Ln was worth it alone. Several coffees and a nice chat at @jakjakjak 's afterwards helped too :)

• #1507
Yep, a shorter, cold ride is better than no ride!!

New Orbit is coming soon! (Tomorrow)

• #1509
would like some cheap gumwall tyres, does anyone know where I can get some? cheers,

• #1510
Freeman's on Heigham Street usually has them.

Guys I'm in a little bit of a dilemma! The new orbit is super light, I'm pretty sure it's down to the wheels, I'm not sure if the rear is a tubular but the front has a gator on. I need to look properly, but they're seriously light and they're campag wheels (according to the stickers). I'm not really keen on the silver look of it all, really tempted to rattle can it black. Is this a dumb move since they're probably one of the most expensive parts on it?
The seat post I don't really care about I can probably get a cheap one to replace.

• #1512
ok great thank you
-
• #1513
Find out of they're Campag or not first...but either way don't rattle them!!
-
• #1514
Judging by the weight I want to believe they are, I might pop into dandy with it and see what they reckon, how else can I verify? I'm not 100% sold on silver components, but it might chance once I've got rid of the horrible tape and bars (the ugly red and black camo stuff) I haven't quite decided which will be the beater yet, the other frame has more scrapes and a few dents whereas the body on this is clean, just a couple of scrapes here and there.
-
• #1515
Well if you decide to get rid I might make an offer because I'm thinking of selling the archetypes
-
• #1516
I might be interested if the price is right mate
-
• #1517
£250
Black Archetypes laced to Halo hubs, rear is the fix-g hub which on it's own is £70
They're probably three months old and have done less than 300 miles
-
• #1518
just a bit out of the price range I was thinking, but Im sure they are worth the money no doubt
-
• #1519
Full silver for the 'sunday best' and all black for the beater would be pretty cool. Matching would have been amazing, but unless they were perfectly matched I think they'd never feel right. Plus, no use getting rid of nice wheels just for the sake of the colour!
-
• #1520
Nooooo please don't spray any Campag bits, for the love of baby jebus.
-
• #1521
Agreed!
Knowing I'm getting my road bike next month is twisting my arm hard to the concept of getting rid of the fixed...
-
• #1522
Okay okay, I won't spray it, once I get the horrible bars off I might change my mind about silver. What would be a suitable price for some campy wheels? Silver track ones, braking surface on front but not on rear afaik, haven't checked properly, need to fix a couple of things. If my adjustable wrench doesn't fit the headset does anyone have a large one? Or a specific tool?
-
• #1523
I just looked back at the ebay listing, and I'm almost certain that front hub isn't Campag, but the rear might be. Non-matching rims suggests hand-built too. Do they say anything on them/have any other indication of a manufacturer on the wheels other than those decals? Could just be someone trying to be cheeky a la that 'Colnago' in Cash Converters?
-
• #1524
I have a headset spanner.
-
• #1525
Front looks a bit like a Phil hub.
They're fucking awesome
