It is weird riding around in kit from a club/team that;
a/ you're not a member of or ride for.
b/ they're on the other side of the world (if they even exist). Is it? I like the idea of riding kit from little clubs around the world.
But I used to go play football up the park in my Arsenal or Germany shirt...and I'm not German (& didn't play for a junior Arsenal team), I just liked the shirt. I wouldn't have worn my club kit up the park, that was for matches only. Quite a few of us played about in world team shirts other than England. Maybe it was a local village or 90's thing. -

Would you, as an adult, go and play regular five-a-side (for instance) wearing the shirt of another team?
I guess many would. I wouldn't. An I do find it a bit weird. I'm really not into celebrity or hero worshiping.

is possible just to haz south london cats on back perchance?

That's a 5 aside match though...how does that work? Plain clothing and tabards? But that's different from training.
At formal organised training (LVV, HH) I only wear my rolla top as that is my club kit.
But I see that totally different to informal training in Richmond Park or a casual ride with friends. -

Eh? Team kit, pro or amateur, is fine for anyone to wear if they like it and aren't obliged to wear something else for a club etc. Just not Team Sky...
I gave a friend an old Assos jersey which I thought looked nice, was good quality and would fit him well. When I Googled the name on the front it turned out to be some obscure amateur football team in Slovakia or Czech Republic (I think). But it was an Assos jersey in good condition for £10. And looks pretty cool. So meh.
Agree that this thread is severely underwhelming though.

Ok, but at some point to own someone else's club kit you're going have to buy it, passing up buying another piece of your own team kit? I'm really not judging, it's all fine, but I can't imagine doing it myself.

Do you also wear UCLA hoodies and Che Guevara tshirts?
;-)
-
• #1367
Ha. Nope.
Got some old Malcolm X ones but they've been tucked away for years now... Logo-less / picture-less mostly these days, apart from my favourite Cars-R-Coffins shirt...
Search eBay internationally, or even sometimes in the UK, and you can find some cool old retro Assos jerseys for not much cash at all. The materials haven't changed much over the years, and the designs are way more fun than the new ones.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh, now this I agree with you on. However, I'm not sure I'll ever need more than two Rollapaluza tops to meet formal training and racing needs.

I have a chip on my shoulder regards all this partly because we share our weekend and summer weekday training rides with other clubs, teams and (for the summer weekday rides) select randoms. And I'm a bit pissed off at clubmate peeps turning up in their "awesome new Castelli jersey from the wiggle sale"... fucked if I'm riding for them whilst they wear that! :-)
If you can't be pro, look pro, and all that.

if i wore it sayin north i'd get a terrible skin reaction sadly, like the style though ;0)
-
• #1373
That sounds like formal training, so formal kit should be worn. Save the castelli for the coffee ride.
You might find these guys don't get out much, so feel they have to show off their new garms whenever possible, regardless of whether it's appropriate. -
• #1374
Thoughts? For some reason the colours on the jersey look less vibrant, but they should match the shorts.
