So my All City Nature Boy is on it's way to me soon. I can't decide whether fixed or tringle speed.
I reckon 3 sprockets on a set of Hope Mono Hoops with the middle sprocket being the perfect chainline and one either side. Then use an 8/9/10 speed chain. It'd be a really good all rounder for me then, road, bridle ways and winter hack. Single front ring.
Or will it be a massive fail and throw the chain if not using the central sprocket?

What is happening here?

I've never seen anyone do the triple. If you're happy with the stance width of a triple chainset then go for it.
Careful with 10sp chains. I'm not sure they'll run well with all 3/32 ss cogs/rings. 8/9sp are certainly ok.

Slightly losing my mind at not being able to ride this. Just waiting on the hubs from aliexpress, it's been two weeks and I think the seller might have given me a fake tracking number (he's 'looking into' why the tracking isn't showing on the china-post site - anyone else experienced this?)
Shifting on 5800 really is amazing. I was sceptical about the long reach front mech arm being a big step up, but it really fucking works.
Saddle to bar drop looks much more than it actually is btw.

Single ring at the front.

Hmmm.
You wont have much step in gears and will have to move the axle in the track-ends (messing with the brakes).
You should dingle it.

Ok thanks. So my next question as my Google fu is not working.
I need a fixed wheelset that will take 38mm tyres, anyone know who sells them?
-
• #99119
Pretty much any bike shop that can build a wheel. See the rim and wheel threads.

I'd prefer OTP as lbs' are not upto it.

I can recommend justridingalong. They'll build with parts you send them.
Places like spa cycles are good for cheap, wide rims and they build aswell.
Halo might do a wide, factory built wheelset.

Halo do, but has no braking surface. Is it possible just to stick a brake on as I'm not bothered about the anodising wearing off.
-
• #99123
If they've got a braking surface. i.e. not disc.

okay i'll get working on my moves
