I know people who've replaced springs on their Golfs, but anecdotal evidence is no use to anyone and springs breaking has become very common these days. Are VW using Titanium? If we want to talk suspension Ford fitted IRS to the mk1 Focus whereas VW spent their entire budget making the dash plastics in the mk4 Golf look nice. Depends what you're after I suppose

Yah, sometimes cost effective does not mean cheap. My bro had to replace the springs on his ford blatantly because they were cheap steel. Can work both ways.
