I'm so bad for posting questions in threads and forgetting about them! The boot won't lock at all, the central locking doesn't work and it also won't lock using the key in the lock on the boot.

Sounds like the mechanism is siezed or gunged up.
Find your Haynes. You should be able to remove the lock mechanism and transplant the lock barrel into a scrapyard replacement.

Does the boot catch work? i.e it stays closed but won't lock?
When you use the central locking, can you hear the mechanism in the boot move/work at all?
If so, It sounds like it's a mechanical failure if neither the fob nor the key work so it might be worth removing the trim from the inside and checking for broken/worn/damaged parts.

Doesn't lock remotely, doesn't lock with CL triggered by the driver's door, or doesn't lock when you use a key on that particular lock?
