Really? I see 5700 shifters going for £80 second hand, and the mechs aren't much cheaper second hand. That's what's motivating me to buy new, after a while of looking for a decent second hand deal!
New 5800 group is £298. I worked out that if I bought it and sold the bits I don't need (callipers and cranks), and bought the bits I do want (bigger cassette, medium cage mech) then I'd end up spending around £180 - the same price as all the bits I do want from Probikekit with 10% off.
That doesn't seem too bad to me...
I bought 5700 a few weeks before 5800 came out. I'd like to upgrade but the new price of 5800 means theres no demand for my group and id take a massive hit. Maybe worth bearing in mind if your likely to try and move it on at some point.
