Bloomin feed dropped as Compton was clawing it all back. Gah. What happened?

SRAM basically funds the domestic US CX scene

Nice to see JPow in something other than the Stars and Stripes, that Rapha kit looks pretty nice.

Predictably enough she had it wrapped up on the second lap.
Good to see Dan Timmerman right up there. Great view of everyone drifting the corner before the barriers.

Mathieu van der Poel has decided to enter the world championship cross in Tabor in the category where he belongs. I hope Van Aert will do the same.
-
• #2759
I think he will. He looked pissed at missing out on the national title and wants to show these elites who is boss!

No CX World Cup round at Milton Keynes later this year. Boo.
All thanks to fucking egg chasing.

What a shame :(

Has anyone tackled the mtb trails at the Stratford velopark on a CX bike? I was on the road circuit today for the first time and the mtb trails were completely deserted- tempted to throw down £4 and try it out for a bit of practice as the ride out the Epping get's pretty tiresome on a spinny single speed

Take the train.

• #2766
Shame indeed. Abergavenny seemed to get good reviews, how difficult would it be to transfer venues?
-
• #2767
It needs funding, which the local authorities in Milton Keynes were prepared to do, and a course that the UCI are happy with.
I'm not sure the Abergavenny course would be up to World Cup standards, but it's moot anyway as it'll be out of action for next season as there will be building work at the school who's grounds the course is in.
-
• #2768
That's a bit frustrating as a lot of riders want to take a crack at Abergavenny again. It's been out of the national circuit for too long.
Alas it would be too small for a World Cup the same scale as Milton Keynes. Peel Park in Bradford might be an obvious choice as would Sutton Coldfield if a good course could be designed. Chantry in Ipswich would draw the continentals. That's all I can think of on the national circuit. There's a lot if big parks and grounds that could work well but a test event would be needed urgently.

I presume they'd try and find a course which is close enough the Channel Tunnel, so riders can get there easily and be able to race the day after (as some did this year, think it was a bpost race?)
Maidstone WC

What does it cost to fund one of these events? I read somewhere, cant remember where, that US and Canadian WC rounds were being considered. Hopefully MK will make a return and not get forgotten about.

I suspect a lot will take ferries and there are the routes in from Netherlands and Belgium to Hull which makes a lot of the eastern counties an option. It was probably easier for a lot of people to ferry to Harwich and head in that way than drive to Calais and then the long haul around London.

I'm doing a cx in Epping on Saturday morning with @hyperbole if anyone wants to join. Leaving Clapton at 9 am.
-
• #2773
Tempted, but it's really, really muddy at the moment. Even the high ground seemed waterlogged last weekend.
-
• #2774
We will probably be sticking to the faster, harder trails.
-
• #2775
As the trails get more demanding, they get way slower.
Unless Hyperbole has morphed into MacAskill since last time I saw him (which was a while ago, to be fair).
Or do you mean the fire roads? In which case...nah.
so much discs
