Oh, you tease - I need the extra 1/8 inch! :(

Nice choice with the headset colours. What are you thinking for the wheels?

Thanks, matches non? All I know is they're going to be hand built, and round.

Look HSC forks or Time ones from way back!

Yup, looks sweet. Chris King Patriot and Rasta colour combos FTW. Wish I had a frame that was worthy / correct size head tube. Pompino was my last bike to be blessed with a CK.

If it's 1 1/8th, go Enve.
You know it's worth it.

I'm trying to modernise the frame, so they wouldn't be suitable. Also, tricky to find.

Is it? Bear in mind that everything I am doing is on a budget (apart from the wheels, where I'm spending a little more, relatively). Am I honestly, as a normal person, going to notice a difference?
Everything I hear about the Minimal is good, and it falls perfectly within my remit.

Get chinese carbon forks that you like aesthetically; cheap, light and reliable.

In my user experience these are fine:
Similar in shape to a cannondale slice fork or a ritchey WCS. bit porky weight wise but solid.

Maybe me being paranoid, but I have trust issues with that part of the bike being made by some 'unknown' outfit in China.

It's the same price as the Minimal, and won't fit as well, so there's no reason for me to choose the Tusk over it.

Probably a little too soon to be worrying about this, but I pinched a carbon bottle cage from another bike and was trying to work out whether I like it or not. Can't remove logos which is annoying. Might just go with a standard black ally cage.

Ouch.

How much does Nick charge for his pies, please?
-
• #45
I'd go cheap Ti cages personally.

Is there anywhere that a newb can learn how to do this stuff, in London? I mean build a bike?
-
• #47
Preferably somewhere that supplies pies :-)

Looks like a great project! A very similar idea to my Specialized E5 build, just a bit larger! Forks wise I'm always looking out for a genuine used 3T funda with enough steerer, which would suit the 'dale too I reckon.
I like the cages, just get the sandpaper on them.
I always thought they looked great! And they're light (circa 330g) and supposedly pretty stiff too. The main thing is that they're meant for an external type headset, which is what I'm after.
