  • Has anyone had experience with removing a load-bearing wall? We're considering it, but have no idea of the costs involved. Any recommendations of structural engineers would be great.

  • Had one removed a few years ago. Total was about 3.5k. About £500 for structural engineer and building control fees, and the rest on labour and materials. Cost obviously dependent on numerous factors: size, existing foundations etc. In my case, they had to dig out a 1x1x1m pit and fill with concrete, then build engineering brick piers on which to rest the steel. Can't remember who did it now!
