What makes you think that?

I treated myself to a drill bit that fits on top on Porlex/Hario grinders over xmas. Much better for grinding coffee for French press or cold brew. Also the look on peoples' faces when I use a drill to make coffee makes it worthwhile.
Hilarious. Did you come up with the idea? If so, patent it!

Water wise aren't you supposed to look at the residue, details on the label of the bottled water and the less residue the better.
-
• #10630
Is it new or second hand?
Does it work as it should, water hot and steam too?
If you need spares ;)

Grind profile of the burr's. all grinder burrs are cut with a specific type of brewing in mind, some just wont go fine enough for espresso, others produce a very wide spectrum of grind sizes.
the baratza's use conical burs which are ostensibly multi-purpose, but actually tend towards being better for filter brewing than espresso. they will brew espresso, they just wont provide as good a result as others.

yes and no, minerals are great, they actually aid extraction of flavour with different minerals emphasising different flavour compounds in the form of acids.
calicium, magnesium and bicarbonates are the three to look out for, especially and calcium bicarbonate is what causes scale.
look for levels of bicarbonates that are lower than 75 ideally, not much higher than 100 ugm/l
we need some though as it acts as a buffer for the acids, taming the super bright tart flavours.calcium and magnesium can be as high as you want, but the key is balance. Its rare to find a mineral water that is super high in magnesium though.
pretty much the best value and mineral balance is waitrose essential, Tescos ashbeck spring is also very good, its just a bit low in everything so the coffee will tend to taste thin and sour.
something like Evian, which is super high in Bicarbs will tend towards flat chalky tasting coffee, with little or no acidic fruit notes.

Good coffee place in Brighton? Got a meeting on West St at 10 and train gets in 30 mins before.

Second hand. In working order. Reading reviews (admittedly mostly written about 10 years ago) it seems that the switches/buttons can be pretty unreliable and often break. If they do, I'll holler!

I didn't even bother with an adapter - the chuck on a driver fits fine.
Now I'm in the market for a cheap electric screwdriver that has a chuck fitting, rather than a hex plug fitting.

Small Batch or Ground.

I was going to say I couldn't understand the need for an adapter. My electric drill will fit straight onto the Hario, low speed, no hammer.

Can anyone suggest a decent enough grinder? It's for my office so nothing too expensive.
