  • In the brixton sense, local brewed pal ales etc.

It's an all round nicer experience than going to a prem game. Like going to watch rugby...problem is that you don't get to see prem football.

  • So we learnt two things from the commentary yesterday.

The first is that Man U and LVG teams always perform better in the second half of the season. Great performance yesterday indicates that this is probably the case.

The second is that ManU are light on solid central defenders. Having spent £150 million on attacking players, this is hardly surprising, particularly as they allowed the great Rio Ferdinand to leave in his prime. A quick look at their stats shows that this is the case.

While they have conceded 21 goals, one more than Man City and two more than Chelsea, they have conceded 6 more than Southampton, the meanest defence in the league. When it comes to goals for, however, they are in fifth place and only just (12 goals) behind Chelsea and 11 behind Man City.

In other words, their defence isn't so bad. Their attack is their weakness. Happily for them they are showing every sign of improving in the second half of the season and yesterday, with all their attacking players available, were able to record no shots on target.

  • i take it from the length of the post clive, that your team won at the weekend ?

  • Scraped through.

  • It's alright though, 20 games in and the league is theirs.

  • ha, well observed dicki

  • Nastasic is off to Schalke, so Bony move should be all set to be announced

  • i take it from the length of the post clive, that your team won at the

And what should we take of Tottenham's performance from the lack of a synopsis of the Guardian?

  • In an awesome food and football thread crossover, I found my local SE13 Italian Lucianos owned by son of a Charlton/Italy player has Gianfranco Zola hanging out pon the regular.

  • quality!!
    Gianfranco Zola,
la la la la la la,
    Gianfranco Zola,

  • Second best Premier League goal ever.

  • Second best Premier League goal ever.

Except that, of course, it was an FA Cup Third Round Replay. 2002.

  • Ha!

Oh well, second best FA Cup goal ever then.

  • Of course, at the time, no one appreciated what a goal it was. It was only when the screens showed the replay that we were able to appreciate the sublime nature of the finish. From where I was sitting, all one saw was the corner being kicked and then a celebration.

  • more liverpool history
what a strike force that could have been

  • After that Gerrard screamer in the final against West Ham?
Hmm I think Giggs goal against Arsenal pips that Zola goal to second place

  • Gerrard isn't even in the top ten.

Great goals aren't those that occur when someone whacks one in from 30 yards, it's when they do something incredibly skilful, the like of which you've never seen before, and when the pressure is high. Such as Bergkamp's goal for Holland against Argentina in the 1998 WC, or Giggs' run against Arsenal (which pips Zola in my view).

    Anyway, this is the greatest goal the Premiership has seen;

  • Lol you are a joker.
When the pressure is high? Like when you are in the last minute of time and your team are 3-2 down in an FA cup final and you are the captain. No pressure there then.
Greatest FA cup goal ever. FACT.
    Ask B&D

But yes I do agree that that Bergkamp goal is the greatest ever scored in the Premier League.
I remember watching that in a pub with my brother and loads of other plastics. No one could believe what they had seen at first

  • Gerrard's isn't even as good as Radford's.

  • It was against West Ham, FFS. No pressure on the ball, he just hit it.

A good goal, but not a great goal.

  • It's only Leicester though. And it was a draw.

  • LOL @ Gerrard v West Ham. It's a good hit but it's not an all time great goal. It's less good than the Ray Parlour goal in the final against Chelsea - which also isn't an all time great.
