  • Quality seems to have massively improved with Milltag going from what I perceived to be novelty jerseys a few years ago to now producing the kit for Laura Trott's Matrix team. Not far away from Rapha in my opinion.
Woman's sizes in both jerseys too.

  • You are not alone, @hats.

£75 is too much for me, also.

  • As mentioned earlier in the thread; is it not possible to do a run of Miltag jerseys for those of us willing and/or able to pay a bit more and a run of cheaper jerseys for people not willing/able to pay?

It's definitely extra work but I assume you could still levy the same club margin across both?

  • Id pay £70 or is ur £75 for a quality jersey not those things u can buy anywhere and to be a part of this group.

  • £85? get rapha to do it and i'd be tempted.

  • It's likely that those who don't feel it to be within their price range are less likely to come forward and say so, but are more likely to not bother joining.

But you don't have to buy a jersey to join LFGSS.CC - the only people who absolutely must have club kit are those racing under BCF regulations, even testers are not obliged by the governing body to wear their club colours, and you can wear what you want to any of the other kinds of rides which will be facilitated by the club.

  • do a run of Miltag jerseys for those of us willing and/or able to pay a bit more and a run of cheaper jerseys for people not willing/able to pay?

This might be sensible - expensive poseur jumpers for loaded MAMILs, and a modestly priced option for hard pressed racers who are likely to trash their kit when they fall off.

I wouldn't worry too much about a TT skinsuit, although plenty of testers are happy to pay £200+ for a body condom, they won't do so unless it has some wind tunnel credentials.

  • I'm a mamil, willing to pay for lfgss top, having said that I'm put off by the £80 version, I'm certain there will be people who can't spend £70, a few won't spend £60 and so on... Without redoing the list I'm not certain how much consensus you'll get from the people that post?

  • £75 is usually enough for a decent bibshort.

  • I've created a poll here for Jersey prices (happy to change/remove if it is deemed to be unhelpful)

    http://strawpoll.me/3394325

FWIW, I have a ~£40 Rollapaluza jersey and a ~£70 one, the £70 one is nicer but I'm not sure it is that much nicer. Especially as I would likely wear this to the pub as often as I would racing.

As others have suggested, its not just that £75 is a lot, but also that there doesn't seem to be much of an option at the two current price points

  • My friends shop Corridori in Epsom got their shop/ team.kit done.by Castelli. Its reasonably priced, good quality and I Dont think they put in a big order.

  • I'd have to agree that £75 is a tad expensive. Personally I think £50 is the magic price point, but understandble that people perhaps would want a nicer jersey.

I'll admit I'm more excited for a chance to get a new cap :)

  • £75 is too much for me but I like the idea of keeping the membership free.
how much of that will go towards club costs? (sorry if this has already been answered)

  • 1.5 decent bibshorts, or 0.5 Assos.

  • £75 is a bit expensive for me but i'd still fork it out for some rad kit i'll hardly ever wear. I reckon most on the 'list' would rather not go beyond the £50 mark though. Either way, i'm 100% for free membership and agree with Velocio's reasoning completely. But it all comes down to how much we'll make from merchandise sale as that's the source of income for the club. So if a £50 jersey produces more profit in total than a £75 one then that would be the obvious choice and vice versa.

  • Depending on whether the club funding is a fixed amount per jersey or a fixed proportion of jersey sales, the price needs to be set at either the quantity maximising level or the revenue maximising level of the PED curve :-)

This is obviously complicated by the fact that you need to look at different curves for each distinguishable product quality.

  • I don't know how the Rollapaluza model works, but £12 gets you membership and a cap and their basic jersey is impsport £50.40 from and you just order it from http://www.yourclubshop.co.uk
I've not ordered the jersey though so can't comment first hand on quality, as I picked up a used, different brand one for £10.

  • Just give me a jersey for free so this debate can be over

  • The Impsport kit isn't that good to be honest.

The best kit Rollapaluza have sourced was from Le Col. I think the short sleeve full zip jersey was £50 which, given the quality, was a very good price.

Let me check the price - it was £61.50 two years ago. But that was for a run of about 15, so you'd get a better price for a larger run.

  • I don't mind my impsport jersey at all, nothing special but i'll happily race or do long rides in it.

  • Mines Cofides, But I got it from @Zed so not sure how old it is or how much.

  • I suppose it's a question of fit, my impsport felt like crap to ride in.

  • Don't get me wrong, it's not good stuff. The skinsuit i got from them is especially irritating

  • Alright... we have determined the price.

The jersey will be £65, and you can opt for collection at a compass beer.

This will be a high quality (2014 version, not the standard version) Milltag jersey, and includes revenue to support the existence of the club.

You can opt for extras such as personalisation (your name or some text on the jersey) and delivery (standard royal mail post given that the insurance value of a first class stamp covers this) and premium delivery (recorded delivery). Personalisation will add £5, delivery adds either £2.50 or £5 depending on your options.

We will also make available a pro team jersey. which will be more expensive still, around £85.

The differences between the club jersey (already a non-standard quality jersey) and the pro jersey (very much rivalling top jerseys elsewhere):

    CLUB
Features: Club fit, Coolplus body, Lycra ‘Power Cuffs’ for more aero fit, elastane sleeves for increased aerodynamics, full hidden zip, silicone gripper strip on hem, three rear pockets with extra hidden zip pocket and flat-lock seams for comfort.

    PRO
    Features:

    • Pro cut
    • Milltag specific ‘Lightweight’ stretch fabric for front and back body panels and collar for increased aerodynamics
    • Milltag specific ‘Chrono’ fabric on side and sleeve panels for increased turbulence to maximise speed
    • Milltag specific ‘Micro’ fabric under sleeve panels for maximum wicking and comfort
    • Milltag specific ”StretchFit’ fabric panel with ultra low profile silicone gripper gel strip at front hem for increased aerodynamic fit
    • Laser cut sleeve ends with ultra low profile silicone gripper gel strip for increased aerodynamic fit
    • Flat reverse pockets for a more streamlined reverse profile

Note: Pro cut is much tighter fitting than standard jerseys – if you prefer a more relaxed fit then we’d advise moving up a size.

    The sizing chart is attached.

Pre-orders for these will open this evening, with the confirmed design.

We will accept pre-orders until Friday February 6th at which point orders will be frozen (for personalisation, etc) and everything will go to production. I will order a few extra jerseys of various sizes according to demand, but the only way to absolutely guarantee you get a jersey this year will be to place an order within the next 3 or so weeks, I've chosen the cut-off date to ensure it spans a pay-day for most people.

  • Oh, and why not make a cheap jersey as well as a nice jersey? Because doing so wouldn't fund the club at all, and wouldn't make a quality jersey viable. And if we make funding the club compulsory to buy a jersey, then you would still have to pay around £65... but this way we can offer club access for free (and as tester rightly says this makes the club more accessible as you can participate in events without having to have club kit), and also ensure we have a quality jersey that people choose to wear because it's a damn good jersey.
