  • $£?

  • I've tried using it. To be honest, I struggle to really find the proper point- find I can self support at most saddle positions. It's only a couple of hours down the road that issues arise. On the other hand, I've always done it on my own- possibly (probably) better with someone there watching.

  • Thanks I may just have to invest in a bike fit

  • Went with their comprehensive fit which is £195 before club discount. I am going to book myself in for a fit on my Trek before summer too. Their 'on your bike' fit is much cheaper. They emailed me the fit report today which is very nice and detailed. Along with bikeCAD.

  • I thought you had been Scherrited?

  • This wasnt for me ..

  • I am going to book myself in for a fit on my Trek before summer too

    But

  • I have a persistent issue with my left foot when in an aero tuck, whereby I feel like my ankle is rolling outwards under power, putting all of my power through the outside of my foot. Happens to a lesser extent on a normal bike, but it feels like my foot wiggles under power. Is this the kind of thing that can be fixed with cleat shims?

  • I haven't used cleat wedges ( mostly due to them being a bit crap with mtb style spds ), but have had some success with these ITS Heel Wedges

I had previously tried specialized in-shoe wedges, but they caused my toes to go numb.

Steve Hogg has some interesting things to say about shoe wedges.

  • Saw Scherrit today. 10/10 would fit again.

Time will tell if he's solved my problems but what a genuinely lovely bloke he is, a fountain of knowledge.

  • Welcome to the Bike Whisperer faithful. There is a reason we're a loyal and vocal bunch.

  • Just read this...

My mtb feels great while seated but cramped when standing, so guess I need a different frame! :-(

  • Howdy folks, this is probably the best place to ask. I usually ride track bikes but got a road bike over the christmas period, i find it unusual when riding as i feel like my legs go at more of a diagonal to the cranks instead of being further over the cranks, the reach feels good however. Will moving the saddle affect anything?

  • Any specific places people will recommend for a cleat alignment only, not full bike fit? SPD pedals.

  • sounds like...
Please fix my bike, i'm only paying for tyres. (not tubes, rim tape, air, wheel true , brake adjustment.. )its only the tyres. you fit them. how much?

  • I've fitted my bike already dude. It's perfect for me. I've switched to mtb cleats and need a cleat alignment. Just asking for any recommendations. Unless of course it makes no difference where one goes with cleat alignment?

  • Ok fair enough.. let m know if you findzz a fitter to do it.
    I was dubious is all.

  • unless your road pedals/cleats and shoes had a massive stack height then be aware that changing to mtb pedals will mean a change in stack height and therefore a change in seat height will be neccessary...

  • Well he's clearly insane...

  • Yeah, I do this when reading about the whole 'material challenge' thing.

  • Pretty much yeah. Just found that page and the comments...

    Science... Anatomy... Science... MYSTIC WOO!!!

  • That heel wedging thing is still legit though. I've found that approach to be far more effective ( for me ) than forefoot wedges.

  • Pro tip - Don't talk about wedges when you're on a diet. I'm well hungry now :-(

  • Frankly different shoes have massively differing stack heights alone, not just between road and mtb.

I have a set of what I've had described as cyclocross shoes (with holes for front spikes) that are lower than my road shoes, up to a cheap pair of specialised which are like high heels... At least two inches different, probably closer to three.
