  • So I am another person looking at buying a turbo trainer with a £100-150 budget. Mainly fixed gear use and some geared.

From what I've read it seems a fluid based trainer would be no good/boring for a fixed gear as I wouldn't be able to adjust the resistance. Is this correct?

  • I've trained with a singlespeed setup on a fluid trainer before and while it was ok, the lack of variety in cadence ( at a set power level ) was a bit limiting, so I switched back to a geared bike. So yeah, the variable resistance trainers sound better suited to bikes with one gear.

The Elite trainers have a good rep in your price bracket and they also have a decent range of resistance settings, so you can spin, or grind to your heart's content.

Something like this Elite Novo Force perhaps?
