  • It that case it's probably pointless, you'll likely end up doing it then having the wheel in it's normal place anyway due to wanting a specific gear and getting rid of chain slack.

  • Yeah, you wouldn't attempt it if you hadn't already determined it would work with your desired gearing though. Even then, I guess it's just a lot of effort and a bit of risk for nothing.

  • I did it once on a Dolan Pre Cursa with a round file Didn't take long as the track end inserts are made of alu. Can also be reversed by just buying some new inserts.

    No good reason, I just like having the rear wheel as close as it will go and the gearing I was using put the wheel in the middle so taking a few mm's out sorted that out.
