Is a laminate kitchen worktop likely to be fit for purpose as a bathroom countertop covering the toilet cistern and with a basin on top?
The bathroom-specific work surfaces I've seen mention special waterproofing, but would the kitchen laminate have the same sort of protection?

If your plan is to either replace once a year, or fit and flog, then fine. Otherwise avoid.
