What I said was that the lampooning/satirising/mocking of Islam makes one a target, on the basis that the more radical factions of Islam operate a kind of policy of zero-tolerance. That's a statement of fact, not a judgement or opinion.
It is also very obvious, especially in light of 12 people being killed. If that was a contribution, it was rather redundant.

Absolutely. You could say that you'd expect me to have the viewpoint that I do because of where I work and I'm therefore biased, to a degree you'd probably be right. It is a complicated and nuanced subject and it's not like showing a video of someone being killed is a good thing which makes me happy: I see it as the lesser of two evils because I view censorship - even self-censorship - as a slippery slope.

For realz, people should stop killing each other, not stop showing people getting killed when people get killed.

sorry earlier i mentioned muslims as the main opponents to our freedom of speech . i did of course mean radical muslims such as isis/ al queda / al nusra/ taliban / saudi arabia / yemen / will all kill you for insulting the prophet. in moderate turkey which is supposed to be secular they are jailing journalists with terrorism charges , and jailed 25 generals who were to uphold the turkish constitution . freedom of speech is not an option with a large proportion of the muslim world .

Dutch newspapers have been reporting on this. It's quite serious as it endangers Turkey joining the EU which may boost fanaticism, or at least, not help combat it.
Erdogan is trying to reverse years of secularism, seems like a vulgar power grab to me. It suits him to get votes.

Getting more than a bit irritated at seeing the amount people retweeting some pretentious cartoon with a pencil vs a gun, as opposed to the miniscule amount of people who actually have the balls to retweet/republish the cartoons that caused people to get killed.
