I don't believe the claims of either.
DC rainmaker said the 1000 was noticeably faster than the 810 when shifting around on maps and general use.
I just want to try it out. I know what 800/810 are like and so if it isn't better I'll go back. But if it's nicer to use maps on then that's fine. A few hours less battery is of no concern really.
I'm sure it has improved but the battery fail is enough to put me off. Also they changed the connectors to microusb so my external batteries would need another adapter to power them. Annoying.
What's better about the mapping? Bigger screen would be good. But as with everything bigger = more power use, higher cost.
The 800 never lasted claimed anyway so don't believe the claims on the 1000.
