I can't remember what book it was in, probably Faster (?) where he was talking about Boardman and the development program for the Olympic team, he (Boardman) tested all skin-suits when they were soaking wet, as that was the condition in which they would be used/had to perform.

Brilliant.
With this in mind I have ordered these....

They will greatly improve my speed...
Which will probably just make the lamppost collision all the more painful.

I have a dozen of them in the lab. Check the view speed ones closer.
They have a built in mirror so you can watch the road and your stem at the same time. -

Wasn't it his wife that said something like "you'll be sweating loads, have you tested the skinsuits when wet?"
-
• #233
I'm using these for an upcoming track record..
-
• #234
Not really.

• #235
I'd still manage to hit a lamppost.

If the track is empty you could ride the whole thing with your head down.. without silly glasses

A forward facing camera to a garmin 810.
It needs to be done, but would need a meaty legal disclaimer.

Yup, Michael Hutchinson, that's where you read it from, and the ideas from his wife.

I'm pretty sure it was Boardman's wife that suggested testing suits wet to cater for perspiration..
-
• #240
Actually, did you know Boardman's wife was involved with testing skinsuits. She once suggested that sweat might make a difference to aerodynamics so they tested the suits wet.
-

Boardman tested skinsuits when they were wet, did you know, to cater for the sweat that would be present on them. His wife made the observation initially.
-

AFAIK Mrs Boardman once pointed out that the boys had not done any testing of the skinsuits that had been dampened by sweat. An obvious oversight on the part of the racer and team, don't you think?
-
• #245
I'm not sure if you guys have heard but Chris's wife made an observation about sweat produced during the ride would be present in the skinsuit material and yet they hadn't tested the suits for that at all. So they were like "woah, you're right, what a fucking legend! Chris, you silly bugger why didn't you think of this?!"

Probably should have added "Boardman's wife" to my comment.
-
• #247
I know an amusing anecdote about Boardman's wife, I bet you've never heard...
-
• #248
Did she play one of the robots in that film starring Harrison Ford?

Which film?

"Do Electric Sheep Convince New Zealanders?"
Proper "chewing the stem".
