Thanks for thinking with me guys. The back of the nut has slots like they normally do, it just doesn't fit the tools' interfaces (the tools did fit every other chainring nut I've used them on btw).
I tried inserting different sizes of allen keys from the back into the nut but there doesn't appear to be a hex interface in the nut.

Common problem. Omnoms and pretty much every other SRAM crank I've seen use an allen interface on both 'nut' and 'bolt'.
