  • I posted a link to a news feed on events via Vice news. The video is not the only content on there and I warned against watching the video if they were sensitive to such things.

I imagine you believe in a world where people are able to choose what they do and don't see.

  • Judging by the amount of times this guy tweets and the content of them, one can only conclude that he is insane and requires hospitalization.

  • There are hundreds of rolling news sources you could have linked to, you linked to Vice so you could share some murder porn. You so naughty.

  • Grauniad have it on the top of the story.

I'm gonna go back to ignoring all news.

  • You got me...

I await your punishment in the basement this evening. The safe word will be murder porn.

  • he certain requires help of some nature but he has a huge following , no doubt he will be on the news tonight somewhere

  • I used to think that.

Then I moved to Northern Ireland where the most pathetic shit is pushed through under the name of religion. A "conscience clause" against gays. The health minister saying abortions for rape should be illegal.

Religion just doesn't help. There's always been bad people, but it makes doing bad deeds AND thinking you've done the right thing possible ...

(though I obv. don't want people to shitty against religious people, I can see innocent muslims being attacked now but the sooner it's treated as any other opinion, the better)

  • I wondered why I was getting a load of French cartoons on my twitter feed.

    #lifeinthenewssubspace

  • No. I don't actually.

You provided access to what's basically a snuff video. For all you know, people's kids could be browsing this site, and the fact that they can access it elsewhere is not the point - this is a cycling forum.
I don't care you think I'm being self-righteous or pompous, I still think you posting that link is irresponsible.

  • Just in case anybody considers this a problem with Islam:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yV0QXO6YfzA

  • i don't think anyone here considers this a problem with islam.

all religions can fuck off into the fiery pit of obsolescence with equal haste.

    nice passive aggressive post tho.

  • Some people do - they're just not brave enough to say it.

If someone as intelligent as Christopher Hitchins could have a problem with Islam, then statistically speaking there have to be people on here who share that view.

  • is The_Kindness_of_Trees an estate agent?

  • "The attackers are believed to have called out their victims by name before shooting them. In one video clip, one of them is heard to shout: "We have avenged the prophet.""

Nutjobs. But religious nutjobs I'm afraid. People are driven to horrific violence by many things. These people were driven to this, at least in part, by their religion. Unless you think they were lying.

    Edit: replaced "faith" with "religion".

  • Some people do - they're just not brave enough to say it.

  • Excellent - the complexity of it all proved in three foul swoops!

Not that I understand the Estate Agent and Gene Wilder references.

Most atrocities are (physically) committed by ill-educated and angry thugs. Religion is used as a political tool to inspire such people into their devilish thuggery. So religion as political dogma could be held to account, but not religion in a theological sense. It doesn't really matter, therefore, that religion is involved, because everybody subscribes to a dogma of some kind or another.

  • a dogma of some kind or another

  • i would imagine more and more people share that view .did the christians kill anyone on release of monty pythons "life of brian" ? i think it was banned in the cinema for a short time .....

  • Released 1979. Banned until 2008 in Torbay.

Aberystwyth thought they'd banned it, but when they came to lift the ban in 2009 someone worked out they'd not actually banned it.

  • They got a lot of killing done earlier in history, and in other places, and much more successfully.

  • That doesn't mean that it's any less dumb.

It's a bit farfetched to extrapolate from whatever equivalence you seem to infer.

Maybe there are a few more geopolitical / societal factors to consider. The advancement of developing countries. A few decades of war. That sort of thing.
