Speaking of slatted rear ends, I've always had a bit of a Testarossa blind-spot because of Miami Vice and the fact that there were everywhere in the 80s but I've just discovered a new found love for them, the most satisfyingly well resolved car they've done since the 60s IMO, hints of old and flashes of new

I love Testarossas, either a single-mirror in yellow or 512TR in plum for me.

Yum.

re: the TR. I never liked the enormous front overhang that Pininfarina seemed to put on everything back then. Time has been a lot kinder to the Countach, even with the 80s bodykit.

It does sound bloody nice though doesn't it. :-)

that was the poster car for me at 8 years old. spectacular.

you can't really compare the two, in my view. i know they were rivals, but the countach came out 10 years before the ferrari (and was fucking astounding!). by the time the tr was on the scene the lambo was well past it's best.

fucking hot
it's the rear wheel arches - once they were covwered it looked like a kit car

I had a Diablo on my wall
but i preferred the testarossa. -

Interesting story on the Diablo. Basically a watered down version of Gandini's original concept.
Which he then realised in the Cizeta-Moroder...
Some definite cues from the testarossa in there. #fullcircle

Time has been a lot kinder to the Countach, even with the 80s bodykit.
It's just that more time has passed since the Lamborghini.
Give it 5 years and the 512 will look even more magnificent than it does today.

I had these on my wall:
Can't say the 959 has aged well though.
-
• #21718
Yeah, I thought that for a while...
Then I realised it just needs the bagged 961 body kit.

According to a pal of mine, the 512 was a significantly better car than the preceding Testarossa - which according to Ferrari was a bit of a dog.
-

Given that the engine sat on top of the gearbox, and was connected to it by a chunky chain, and that despite that the car was the size of a small country, it's difficult to see how it could be anything other than a dog.

959 and tvr 420 SEAC on my wall as a kid
-

Style-wise I'm going to have to turn my back on the 512, that nose is just bleugh

Hey man, I had wondered about all the Insta-bling. Got any forum-rate bodyshop contacts? I've got a REALLY infuriating dent in my rear arch that can't be straightened out with pointless dent repair as the arches are double-skinned apparently

Sometimes I idly wonder if you could buy a Parallel Designs Countach kit and turn it into an LP500 replica.

Get a better dent person.
Is the paint broken?
