I used to think that.
Then I moved to Northern Ireland where the most pathetic shit is pushed through under the name of religion. A "conscience clause" against gays. The health minister saying abortions for rape should be illegal.
Religion just doesn't help. There's always been bad people, but it makes doing bad deeds AND thinking you've done the right thing possible ...
(though I obv. don't want people to shitty against religious people, I can see innocent muslims being attacked now but the sooner it's treated as any other opinion, the better)

If it wasn't some religion, these guys would be doing the same thing for some other cause. The religion part is just white noise that provides an easy point of interest and blame. It can be hard to see through that.
