Thoughts on aero road bars.......?
As far as I can tell they add a little weight, as its harder to make the flat section stiff. But off a nice place to rest your hands when climing, and make your bike look fast.
The Aeronova from 3T looks the part. But it has a pretty massive reach. I'm thinking of going for the old Zipp Vuka Sprint.

They keep referring to, what sounds like, "pinner" steel road bikes: WTF is "pinner"?

Regardless of arroz, rack FTW:
- panniers offer no support: fizzy beer;
- back pack is too far above your centre of gravity and your back gets hot: warm, fizzy beer.
The Axiom Robson LX has an insulated main compartment: throw in one of those cool box, freezer blocks if it's a warm day and your beer will arrive home unflustered and at the optimum temperature for immediate use (cf "fastest bottle", above).
Not that I've given it any thought...

Surely the tightly folded tenner in the skinsuit pocket paying for the 'notional bottle' held on your behalf at the local hostelry has a Cda of 0 and is, therefore, faster...

Using a camelbak type bladder filled with beer offers good aeros and beer quantity.

Got a taste for warm beer? You've been in England too long.
-
• #191
Yes, yes I have.
My camelbak keeps stuff pretty cold for a while, especially during an English summer :P

I have an insulated camelbak for snowbiking/running. The beer would be cold plus it holds a fair few pints.
The real question here is how aero a pissed cyclist is relative to a sober one.

I dont have a wind tunnel. I'll just have to roll down the same hill after each pint.

They said at 3:05 they can put bushes in there to simulate single track - huh? To simulate bushes going at same speed as the cyclist? I don't understand that bit. Nonetheless, a very nice setup and a fascinating subject. I want one.

When I win the lottery I'm having a wind tunnel built next to my velodrome.
