  • How do you find the 5800 group in comparison to the Force group that was on it? I'm thinking of selling my Force group and buying an 5800 group.

  • For how cheap the 5800 group is now, just but anyway!

  • A tad heavier, but i only really noticed that when carrying it down from the flat. I wasn't using Force shifters before. But the 105 shifts just as well or better than the Rival/Force i was running.

  • Thanks, my force group is the 2012 edition, so weight wise it's only a 200 grams difference. I'll have a think :)! Beautiful bike by the way.

  • This is my favourite bike on the forum atm! super nice.

Just out of curiosity how much was the frameset in total if you dont mind me asking??

  • Thanks Josh. About £750 all in all. In hindsight i would've chosen another tubeset, but Zona is alright.

    Another one. Because.

  • Are you drops actually comfy at that angle?

  • Enough for the little time i spend on them.

  • Lol fair.

    Nice bike though.

  • This is seriously my favourite bike on the forum, it's exactly as I want from a road bike (bar the R685 shift/brakeset).

  • Thx ed.

Eager to try out hydraulics. Maybe next fall/winter.

  • Agree with Ed and others - this bike is your best and one of the cream of teh forum

  • Eager to try out hydraulics. Maybe next fall/winter.

It definitely outperform the best cable pull disc that's for sure, one finger emergency braking is a huge bag of fun.

R685 should be an easy swap, they come pre-bleed I think.

  • More advice on tapered disc forks with mudguard mounts? Was going to buy that Pinnacle fork but Evans stopped selling it. They still have a yellow version in stock though.

How smart is it to drill and tap a M5 hole from the bottom in the fork crown on the current fork?

I also have some of these, will work on disc forks?

  • I think @laner solved a similar issue by getting some Easton forks...

  • Yeah, getting a normal fork modified by the place Talbot uses is the best bet if you don't want to repaint Evans ones

  • Just get the yellow pinnacle forks for cheap fix; might even end up looking cool .. if not paint match it.

  • What you need is those yellow Raceware Garmin mount to subtly match the bike;

  • dream winter bike

  • More advice on tapered disc forks with mudguard mounts?

I solved the front mudguard problem with a cloth-like tape and zip ties. like so..
pulled the zip ties really tight with pliers.. nice and clean. but obviously black tape won't work with your grey fork so you need to source something else. cheaper than a new fork.

  • Current setup. Now carbon seatpost. Ultegra instead of 105. Compass Barlow Pass 38mm (freaking wonderful tyres). Finally got around to cleaning it after a wet nasty weekend in Dalsland.

Still searching for a front fork with mudguard mounts. Eager to try on some ~30mm tyres and guards.
