Not save weight. Save time when removing rear wheel. Multiple tool options for removal. Hex key and hub spanner

Yeah, I always end up being late for my fixie meeting when doing a sudden emergency wheel removal. Those pesky track nuts.

Just get a track nutted front wheel then you only need the hub spanner to go down to one removal tool. Not really sure how time saving comes into any of it so can't say how it would factor into that.

pump, tyre levers, spanner, inner tube, multitool,
Just havea pocket in your rusksack for all of these and leave them there for good.
Bar your bb falling apart you'll be able to fix pretty much anything that happens out and about..

My multi tool has a chain tool on it but if your does not then it's a must.
Spare links, are something I keep forgetting!
Never had a track chain break on me yet, but I've had to put a few road chains back together in the arse hole of nowhere.. -

I managed it. Once, ever. Of course it was travelling at 50kph downhill in the dark with a bunch of roadies :]
I'd hit a lump and my hamster-wheel-cadence meant I pulled the chain over the cog, jamming it between cog and hub flange and spokes. It locked the back wheel for a moment whilst the chain broke (and I shat myself).
It's a reason to keep track-slack on the flat and/or track.
It was repared with a chain tool (a mates, I don't usually carry one riding fg/ss).

Won't work for majority but for me it's just fixed, brakeless, Marathon+ and well maintained bike (what is left to maintain) = no tools required.

A front brake would still required no tools if the cable snapped as you have a back-up already to get you home to fix it.

...front brake... ...back-up...
I see what you did there...

Swapped the wheels and tyres on mine. Temporary pedals and drivetrain. Shall I get omniums? I have an izumi super toughness chain waiting to come on too :)

Once used Profile Racing tugs with hex key skewers on a ss dirt jump mtb.
Worked fine until I overtightened the nut and snapped the skewer due to youthful ignorance. Wouldn't recommend this setup for fixed, though.
...
@Fixed*Star are you trying to save weight by going down the hex skewer route...?
