  • It was in the fucking sky, just stand somewhere free and look up.

  • all you see is the burnt out sticks .. it all happens around waist height

  • Piss off you knob end :)

  • It was historical, so not particularly interesting..ya gats pm

    I like animals ennit

  • Randy Andy's gonna get yewtreed to fuck. More than happy to judge him by the company he keeps

  • Yeah, but he's not, because establishment.

  • In the news, whole countries are made to disappear.

The media is responisble for silence, collusion and propaganda on behalf of the powerful. John Pilger says its time for this to end.
    http://johnpilger.com/articles/war-by-media-and-the-triumph-of-propaganda

  • If I, as a working journalist, say that I disagree with some of what Pilger says, I can be painted as part of this evil elite spreading propaganda. Which really fucks me off.

On the Ukraine thing I think he's watched too much Russia Today. Yes, there has been too much uncritical reporting of the post-Yanukovich government. But denying the Russian military involvement is just bonkers. Also, he seriously misrepresents the case for believing separatists were responsible for the Malaysian airplane shoot down. And the NATO buildup in Eastern Europe has been well reported, and it could be argued was a response to Russia's more aggressive posture in Ukraine. Certainly the Poles and the Balts are very worried about the new Russian posture, and wanted a larger deployment than they ultimately got.

But hey, I'm just a government shill in Pilger's world, dutifully regurgitating propaganda to the masses. WAC

  • He has a point. The scandal of the non-existent WMD which was reported because politicians (Bliar) said they exist. Surely it was the job of of journos to get evidence before printing headlines such as the 45 minute claim.

His point is also relevant to how Gaza's lockdown was reported giving almost equal responsibility between 'David' firing puny rockets into isreal versus the Goliath of the might of super-power supported IDF.

    And Syria...
    Drone wars

Even the Economic reporting and acquiescence about the need to cut the huge national dept by cutting welfare, and public spending, while minimising the hit on big business so their shareholders don't suffer.

meanwhile while the rich poor gap grows why aren't the press also critiquing the proposal to spend 15 billion on building roads where there is evidence that people are driving less, and analysing the case for HS2 which will get some businesspeople to Birmingham 20 minutes faster while libraries will be closing.

I gave up long ago seeking real information and unbiased reporting from BBC news, even the Guardian.

Also what about how cycling incidents are reported. Its still only helmets. rljing and ipods.

What the fuck is wrong with journalists?

  • Yeah. Us journalists are all cunts. Like those fucking red light jumping road tax dodging cyclists.

Or, alternatively, Pilger has cherry picked the worst bits to make us all look bad whereas he, Saint John, is the only one to Speak The Truth.

    fucking non-argument.

  • You're both right, everyone is a cunt, journo or not.

  • Also you can be a decent journalist in a generally shitty media just as you can be a decent doctor in a dodgy hospital or worsening NHS, or be almost a person and and work for an estate agent. It was an interesting article and raised some good points but was mainly questions and was written a bit conspiracy theoristy.

  • Pilger would have done better to focus on one area of deception / misinformation and expose it in detail, than produce this rambling paranoid rant. He touches on huge complex issues and sums them up in a paragraph, failing, like the journalists he rails against, to cite reliable sources for his claims. What he writes is no more believable than what I read in the Grauniad etc because it is equally partisan and agenda driven.

For example I'm sure what he has to say about the Russia situation is valuable but I'd like to read a fully researched article on that, not just "everything you think you know is lies".

  • "It's clear to me that the main reason Assange has attracted such venom, spite and jealously is that WikiLeaks tore down the facade of a corrupt political elite held aloft by journalists."

Actually no, my spite towards Assange is due to him being a self serving messianic dick. And having the gushing support of the left wing press. Wikileaks was a very good thing until it became all about Assange, his publicity has ruined his own organisation's integrity. He should have reeled his neck in and put a fucking condom on.

  • You're both right, everyone is a cunt, journo or not.

Good point. I suppose making crass generalisations about journos (or cyclists) is 'pot calling the kettle black'. Though I have been interviewed by journos about cycling many times over the years and the 1st or 2nd question has inevitably been about rlj-ing. I still don't understand their obsession with this. Like journos wouldn't ask someone they are interviewing about driving why drivers talk on their phones while driving...

  • Aren't you just an apologist for hipster fixie skidding rlj'ers?

  • I gave up long ago seeking real information and unbiased reporting from BBC news, even the Guardian.

This. Too much hysterical journalism these days too, just look at disease reports BSE, Bird Flu, Swine Flu, etc etc.

  • Gosh dicki, regular exercise keeps you fit and slows down the decaying process brought about by old age.

    You clearly don't ride much.

  • Lifting weights prevents degeneration of the muscles we need to be able to lift our shopping when we get older.

But is this all offset by the cake we eat to motivate ourselves...

    ;)

  • blatant pxls. this story from the BBC's gullible facebook poster desk.

  • 11 dead (and counting) in shooting at satirical French magazine with a history of 'insulting' Islam.

The shooters appear to have got away.
