That's really helpful, thanks Dan. Will ponder for a while. I just want something easy to instal and set up to be honest. I'm not bothered if it's a few % out, as long as it's consistent and gives me proper numbers to track against.
Will keep pondering. I certainly want to keep this to a sub £1k investment, which is another thing pointing me to stages.
I've been happy with mine - it's very well suited to my needs (swaps between track/ road/ winter bikes easily, with zero maintenance). I had an issue with a crack in the sensor case, Saddleback were excellent and I had a replacement unit within a week of posting the faulty one, with no questions asked. I would recommend buying in the UK for that reason (though I'm sure Germany would be ok.). In terms of measuring power they have their limitations, but as I've said ad nauseam here it suits my particular needs and budget right now.
It's worth colouring this review with the fact that I paid trade price for mine - just over £400. If I could afford a dedicated track powertap or SRM then I probably would go with P2m for road - but we're talking about me suddenly spending another £1-2,000 here - which is unlikely.
I'm kind of of the opinion that in 5 years time powermeters will be a hell of a lot more reliable and affordable, more like a groupset item than a specialist tool (though companies like SRM will always offer a superior professional product) - so until then you're looking at an interim solution based on your needs and budget.
