Fixation of Oury grips to shiny bars

Solutions required please.
Wouldn't go on dry - used saliva - now slippy as.

It wasn't copious amounts.

Wow, flashback to 1989 and trying to get my bmx grips on. If you chew on some blackjacks it makes your spit more tacky when it dries.

Coca-cola not marching powder. Dries sticky and if you're the type of guy that doesn't use hairspray (ie. male) then you're more likely to have it around.

Aftershave hasn't worked. I'll put that down to a wind-up. Think maybe battery acid's a similar thread?

using zip ties to pull ourys over the bars is the popular way to go in finland

never tried though.

Also a tiny wee drop of washing up liquid, with no water present, works. Takes a day or two to dry.

cough Coke cough it's basically free.. even if you don't drink it just find a discarded can.

hairspray from a pound store, spray paint or as hippy has said - a tiny bit of soft drink. Or urine.

Technique and lubrication are both important. If you're lucky you can get them most of the way on by sealing the far end of the bars with one palm and pushing the grip on a cushion of air with the other palm at the base of the grip and some supportive fingers gently around the shaft. From there use a firm twisting and tugging motion interspersed with vigorous bashing on the end. Usually means you can get away dry or with minimum lube to keep the slippy after stage to a minimum.

But srs, just buy lock ons.

Anything with a very high alcohol content. Dries rapid too. Always use Isopropyl at work and it works every time.

Yeah, if you want no residue go for isopropyl, if you're getting dry slippage then hairspray is good. I find a tiny bit of water, mainly at the far end and technique will sort 99% of them.
