They're not WH-7700s, they are both nice sets of wheels.
I am not dissing 7700 cranks, they're not bad at all. I think we've got our wires crossed - should have used Mavic Mektronic to reduce the possibility of that happening.

I think it's fair to separate Shimano's groupsets from their wheels for aesthetic purposes. The 7700 groupset is pretty uncontroversial, the paired-spoke wheels are obviously more divisive.

Yes this is clearly the wrong revolting group for a 'nag. My mistake.
Needs MTB rear dérailleur, decent cranks and the cables trimmed, then it might be quite nice.
