I've just ordered some PDWs from Tredz, £55 with the New Years discount. Not in stock till February though...😞 The only place I could find them in stock is Charly the bike monger at £75.

Condor might have them

Pretty good that crud offer replacement parts, I am slightly put off though.

Any tips on simple cheap full mudguards for my daily fixed? I currently use race blades but they are terrible. I prefer full black.

Honjo are cheap
-
• #1482
Mine have always been OK - but they've only been fitted to older CAADs which have acres of clearance.
-
• #1483
Those are really expensive for mudguards.
-
• #1484
Not really, pretty silent except for a bit of rattle going over potholes. I didn't use the pile strips for what it's worth. Maybe I have a bit more clearance, no problems with trapped dirt.

thirty quid benchmark for full length, take your pick from any of blackburn, tortec, sks.. > http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/mudguards-full-dept282_pg1/

Thanks I'll think about it. I don't think I'll go for the m:part. The smalles size they offer is 35 and I think that might look a bit weird on 25's.
-
• #1487
That would be the right size, in some situations might even be too tight.
-
• #1488
Ok thank you for the tip :)

35mm is actually tiny, Google SKS 35mm cromoplastic and you'll see what I mean.

i have a set of gilles berthoud mudguards that i got cheap a while back from planet x, then bought all the fittings from sjs as i didn't realise they were not included! Tried to fit them, took hours, was very sweary, ended in failure. Now I need to pay someone to do this for me...
tl:dr - can anyone recommend a bikeshop near archway that will do this for a decent price without too much bodging? They're to go on a Tokyo Fixed Wide Open so have the necessary braze-ons

Cheers for the tip on Charlie having stock of PDWs, set arrived this morning!
-
• #1494
Would happily pay the extra £20 to Charlie: Tredz/Wheelies are shisters, Charlie is a diamond.
I suppose at least they are being up front about taking your money for OOS items and sitting on it...

I've just fitted pdw to my van Nicholas yukon. There is a big gap between the mudguard and the wheel on the back wheel where the mudguard attaches to the seat tube. Is that just the way it is? Or do you think I could fashion a spacer out of something?

road/ race wheels and guards on a touring frame is the issue.
take a picture of the whole wheel; is the gap even?
if it is, then a spacer may need you to rotate the guard clockwise.
if not, then a spacer will likely set the guard the right distance from the wheel and remove the unintended gap. -

Way too big, fashion a spacer out of cork should do it nicely.
Having it like that mean the top of the mudguard may rub on tyre.

• #1498
Cork is a good idea. Thanks

• #1499
^^Wow.
I would have put money on the Scoble response having being "fit bigger tyres".

The space isnt even. It fits well round the rest. Hopfully cork should sort it out
fairplay to mr crud, he does all the spares and postage is included in the price > http://www.crudproducts.com/product-category/spares/
