  • I did that 'novice' session last Saturday. No way are you/those guys novice! Afterwards I heard a few people talking that they had been accredited but didn't like the next level up so were staying in the novice group.

Definitely punishing novices like me, keeping the learning/fitness curve steep. Fingers crossed for tomorrow's weather.

  • I dropped my gear to a 48x15 for this last week, it was hard work keeping with the lads that were still running their race gears....but I can only assume it's good for me if it hurts, right?

  • No points for winning at this time of year.

I still had 92" on my bike on Monday - was like riding through treacle into the wind in the back straight during Laps to Destruction. If my knee is alright tomorrow I'll be there and probably on 49x15 instead.

  • is mondays just chaingang yet? I can't be arsed with actually racing.

  • Sort of a mix. This week: warmup.. sprints in pairs on the whistle x4.. rolling standing starts from the white line in pairs to catch the group... laps to destruction for bloody ages (there was a sprint at the end, but I was dead by then). We probably did another drill but I can't remember.

No real racing to speak of - good hard session, but I was pretty fucked after the sprints. I lay on the floor for a bit when I got home.

  • Oh ffs. I had 12-1 planned as I've a house viewing in tulse hill at half one. That's really screwed up day.

I should really get this accreditation sorted. It seems the timings are jinxed though in regards to when I've got things on. And I don't have that much on

  • not much in the way of bunch stuff then? sounds good to me.

  • Well... bunch stuff but no bunch sprints

  • Anyone know if the training accreditation session will be ongoing throughout the winter? Would quite like to start riding track more once the CX season stops

  • Yup, I saw that from the sidelines as waiting for the track skills session. Someone was saying one of the guys wheels locked and so he went down and took the person down behind too. Heal up fast.

On other news having not been for 2 months and doing a large amount of pre Christmas entertainment I only lasted 45 minutes before having to stop due to having peaked. That was embarrassing and so need less beers and more miles

  • I wasn't far off you @PQR I was out there sort of surviving but then had to come in at 8 laps left. I did the sprinting in the second session, but only did about 5 mins of the chaingang. Sorry I didn't say hello, must have missed you.

  • Hello @youramericanlover - sorry I missed you. Any plans for the Brighton ide in the NY again?

  • Couldn't see an answer... will gatorskins grip ok on the HH surface?
I only get one Saturday off a month and tomorrow is looking dry but gusty so was going to come for the track skills session. I'm itching to take the Bob Jackson out but wont be getting my Vittorias until Jan.

  • They are fine.

  • Awesome.
@PQR are you coming down? Long time no see!

  • Intermediates definitely on tomorrow? Website says yes.

  • For anyone who hasn't tried the track yet but wants to: There are no regular inductions through the winter. But there's a one-off session on the 18th January if you or anyone else you know want to try the track before the spring. http://www.riderhq.com/events/68175/herne-hill-velodrome-beginners-taster-session-1

  • Anyone else on here booked in for accreditation next Friday?

  • Grr. Wanted to do Inters tomorrow since I have done so little riding but the forecast suggests zero percent chance of that happening

  • @pharoahsanders - training did happen on Sat, well for about 45mins. Then it rained so hard that I felt like I was having a shower. Track flooded, training cancelled. Good call to drink tea & chill at home that day.

  • We were playing polo and were surprised it happened at all.

Always thought trackies were fairweather, nice to be proved wrong.

  • Hah^ I've done so many of my sessions in rain recently I hope you're joking. One time in November I had to remove my bb after as it had an actual pond in there.

  • Opinion based on no facts(*), purely that I'd tried to cancel our polo match because it was too wet! :)

    .

*well maybe that I often see posts saying track cancelled because of rain, but never see posts like the one above talking of doing it anyway.

  • I have done some of these track sessions in the rain and following a wheel and getting a face full of water is no fun.
