  • Cheers, have heard good things about his events

  • LEL2013 Apologies if a repeat, but I couldn't find this posted before. A nice repeat, anyway! Even a guest appearance by old man Steptoe!

  • ..spoiled absolutely by horrendous soundtrack

  • Fully-faired 'bents for audax? Hmm... don't have one of those in my collection yet..

  • The Dutch Velomobiles.

    Crazy fast.

  • Bryan Chapman do-ers amongst us .. @Señor_Bear @edscoble @fussballclub what are initial bits of advice if I am considering it for 2015?

  • Nice, agrred with the poor soundtrack, noticed a few old faces on their, me being a ex VC 167 member

  • I failed at Audax last year and have been off the bike for a bit- going to start the season gently. Anyone fancy the Worthing Winter Warmer on 7 February? Looks like there are trains to Billingshurst.

  • Bryan Chapman

Enjoy it. From what I've read you sound relatively quick so it shouldn't pose much of a problem. Keep hydrated and keep eating. Be prepared, remember you're climbing up over Pen-Y-Pass and so anything could happen. Nothing particularly steep since Welsh roads are nicely graded (the only bit I walked was the first bit of the Kings YH drive when I did it on 67" fixed).

    Keep faffage to a minimum.

Say hello to the Elvis rock.

Go "Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeee" on the way down from Cross Foxes.

  • Initial advice is enter ASAP. This one will fill up early if it hasn't already done so.

  • Pace yourself, it's easy to push it on the first day and end up feeling deflated on the second.

Don't aim for the quickest time.

Need to dig up @The_Seldom_Killer's useful advice on multi day audax here.

  • Make up your mind that you really want to do this before you enter as you do not want to take up places from seasoned audaxers as a sportive wannabe who then DNS. Mentally you got to be prepared to ride 36h in rain.

What helped me decide was a few four five hour night rights in slightly adverse conditions in January.

  • Don't be such a pussy

  • Planning a series of audax's working up to a 600km worked for me... a couple of hilly 300 and 400's in particular. By the time you get to the start of the Bryan Chapman you would have already worked through eveything you needed to in order to be prepared, which as others have mentioned, might need to focus slightly on the weather, which has the ability to shape the entire ride.

Also, if you are entering the Bryan Chapman, remember to enter the Pendle while you are there...

  • For the BCM; day 1 = 400km day 2 = 200km.

BTW, 42mm tyres is way too big, you should go for something sensible like 23mm.

  • Shit advice. Go for 19mm race tubs. That way you'll finish sooner and get it over with.

  • I'd love to do the WWW Katy, bloody great stuff. Will enter pronto.

  • I'm also up for WWW

  • Lots of food for thought; thanks guys

  • Oh and the OST of the LEL vid is not a patch on the Pendle vid.

    Big up the Dayton sound.

  • Nice one! Will get entry in later this week. I will be sloooooow

  • 'Tis true - you can tell Damon always puts thought into his video arrangements.

  • What's the Pendle? What other qualifying rides are there for PBP?

Wait, there's a calendar search, hang on..

Oh looks like Mark Brooking does a 600k for Willesden:

  • Not sure if I should enter the BCM or something easier (logistically and physically) like the Windsor-Chester-Windsor http://www.aukweb.net/events/detail/15-464/

  • TBF, getting anywhere not 10 miles form home will require a hotel with a 6am start
